Release Notes: Pace & Place v0.2

These are the release notes of the second release of the GPS outdoor activity project Pace & Place. Version 0.2 is now available for download!

System Requirements

  1. Supported operating systems
    1. Linux (tested with Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10)
    2. Microsoft Windows (tested with Windows XP and Vista)
  2. Java Virtual Machine (JVM) 1.6 (Java 6) or later must be is installed on your computer. You can download the Java Virtual Machine here...

Installation Instructions

Pace & Place installation is performed by an interactive installer.

Windows
  1. Download Pace & Place Windows executable 
  2. Double-click on executable
  3. Follow the steps of the interactive installer
  4. Start Pace & Place by clicking the Windows menu Start -> Digitalcure.org -> Pace & Place
Linux
  1.  Download Pace & Place Linux Jar-File
  2. Right-click on Jar-File & Open with... Java/JDK or if that is not applicable call the installer via command line: java -jar pace_and_place_0.2_build33_linux32.jar
  3. Follow the steps of the interactive installer
  4. Due to a bug, the start file pace_and_place must be set as executable:
    1. Open a system console
    2. Go to the installation directory: cd <Pace & Place installation directory>
    3. Set start file as executable: chmod u+x pace_and_place
  5. Start Pace & Place: ./pace_and_place

Uninstall Instructions

Windows

In order to uninstall Pace & Place under Microsoft Windows...

  1.   Start the Uninstaller by clicking the Windows menu Start -> Digitalcure.org -> Pace & Place Unistaller
Linux

In order to uninstall Pace & Place under Linux...

  1. open a system console
  2. Go to the directory containing the uninstaller: cd <Pace & Place installation directory>/Uninstaller
  3. Invoke the uninstaller: java -jar uninstaller.jar

Known Issues

  • Linux only: after installation the start file <installation_directory>/pace_and_place is not configured as exectuble file. Therefore it cannot be executed without setting it as executable (chmod u+x pace_and_place)
